AQUATHLON

What is an Aquathlon?

  • An aquathlon is a race that only has a swim and a run.  On June 16, we will host an aquathlon as part of the training program.  This will give the athletes a chance to practice swimming their actual distance in the pool, exit the pool the same way they will on race day, go through transition, and then run their race distance on the actual Woody's course.  Bikes are not required.

Registration

  • Only $10, collected at the registration desk (Michener Curling Rink parking lot) on the day of the aquathlon.

  • Very simple pre-registration to choose your preferred session.  Click on the REGISTER button above.

  • The event will NOT be timed.  If you would like to know your child's swim or run time, please time them yourself.

  • Extra parent volunteers will be needed for the aquathlon!  Please sign up HERE.

Who may participate in the aquathlon?

  • The aquathlon is only available to our athletes (ages 5-15), that have either registered for the 2024 Woody's Triathlon or singed a training session waiver.

When is the aquathlon?

  • Sunday, June 16, 2024.  There will be 3 sessions (9:00 am 10:00 am & 11:00 am).  They are NOT split by age group, so feel free to sign up for whichever session is more convenient for you.

Do I need to pre-register for the aquathlon?

  • Yes!  There are a limited number of spots available in each session, so we need all athletes to sign up for the session they plan to attend.  Click HERE or on the blue button at the top of the page to be forwarded to the registration site.

  • 10:00 - 11:20 - Aquathlon Session #2 (athletes will swim in heats from 10:00 - 11:00 and complete their run outside by 11:20)

  • 11:00 - 12:20 - Aquathlon Session #3 (athletes will swim in heats from 11:00 - 12:00 and complete their run outside by 12:20)

Will there be normal training that day as well as the aquathlon?

  • No!  On June 16, there will be no swim or outdoor run/bike training.

What does my child need to bring for the aquathlon?

  • Bathing suit, goggles, a towel, running shoes and running clothes.  Just as on race day, boys are required to cover their torso (ie - they can't run in just their swim shorts).   Life jackets are available for younger swimmers.

Can parents help their child at the aquathlon?

  • Yes!  Parents are not allowed in the pool or on the pool deck, but they may help their child in transition and may even run the course with them.   Keep in mind, this is for the aquathlon only.  On race day, parents are not allowed in transition or on the course.

Do you need parent volunteers for the aquathlon?

  • Yes!  We absolutely depend on parent volunteers to help us pull off this practice race safely and at such a low cost.  All of the jobs that we need filled by parents are listed on our volunteer website.  Click HERE to sign up for the spot you are interested in.  You do not need to set up an account.  Only your name, email and phone number are entered so that we can contact you if necessary.  THANK YOU!

I still have questions about the aquathlon. How can I contact you?
